Replacement of metal filling with an E-max ceramic overlay

Below, the tooth has been weakened from the root canal treatment in the past and was at high risk of fracturing. The metal filling does not bond to the tooth and would not provide enough protection for it.
Using our in-house scanner, milling machine and furnace, our dentist, Dr. Parus Shah was able to copy and improve upon the existing shape of the tooth to maintain the same ‘bite’ which is often difficult with the last tooth.
Dr. Shah safely removed the mercury amalgam filling using a rubber dam, and bonded resin over the root canal treatment in moisture free conditions, then produced an ‘E-max’ strong ceramic overlay and bonded it to the tooth on the same day.
• No temporary crowns!
• No additional visits and time off work!
• Harmonious shape and bite designed by the same dentist.
• The patient was able to eat as normal on the same day.
